Field of expertise

I am an experienced field- and exploration-scale reservoir geologist, with particular expertise in reservoir characterization. My core competency lies insedimentology, sequence stratigraphiy and diagenesis. Extensive knowledge in well correlation, facies map production and modeling in petrel. I have substantial experience in conducting sedimentologic core descriptions and reporting in WellCad. I have described many wells in the Norwegian and Norh Sea for various operators.
I have extensive knowledge in APA licensing round application in Norway and have assisted several oil companies to produce successful license applications for the Norwegian ministry of Energy.
Now beside working on APA 2009 Licensing Round for RWE DEA, I am also project leader for a multiclient study (reservoir geology of the Norwegian Sea), which is conducted by AGR petroleum.
I am a trained speaker and have given more than 20 technical presentations for various operators in Norway and outside Norway. I have taught several courses in the fundamentals of petroleum geology for university students and industry personnel since 2003.

Examples of the oil companies, which I have provided consultancy services:

TOTAL, Spring Energy, Rwe Dea, Dana Petroleum, DetNorske, Burgundy Global Exploration (Full project list on request).

Software experience:

Beside plotting, data analysis, drawing and Microsoft office packages, I have also substantial knowledge in several oil industry software packages such as: Petrel, Tigress, Basin Modeling software, WellCad, Exemplar, Image analysis tools.

Analytical and work experience:

Analytical and work experiences include extensive petrographic work using several techniques, stable isotope analysis, electron microprobe analysis, EDX, XRD and fluid inclusion analysis. The petrographic work techniques include standard optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), backscattered electron microscopy (BS) and cathodoluminescence imaging.

Work experience includes also facies analysis, depositional environment interpretations, paleo-environments construction and modeling, core description, well log interpretations, formation evaluation, petrophysics, subsurface mapping, correlations, sequence stratigraphy analysis (using seismic data, wireline logs, outcrop and subcrop data), reservoir quality prediction and modeling.

Awards and Grants (extensive knowledge and skill in writing research proposals):

• Four-year PhD Studentship at department of earth sciences Uppsala University-Sweden (2003-2007)
• Uppsala university Chancellor funding (Rektors Wallenbergmedel) 2006
• The International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) exclusive postgraduate grant 2005
• NordForsk (Norfa) research scholarships and exchange programmes 2004
• NordForsk (Norfa) research scholarships and exchange programmes 2003
• Geologiska Sektionenen stipendier 2004
• EUROMARGINS Junior Researcher funding 2005 via European Science Foundation
• EUROMARGINS Junior Researcher funding 2006 via European Science Foundation
• Liljewalchs resestipendiefond 2005 (Uppsala University)
• In 2009 together with Dr. Elghali (Head of Department, Geology and Petroleum Geology) Faculty of Science, University of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei, we have a successful grand proposal. The proposal has been approved by several international referees (within academia and the oil industry) and now pending final approval (normal administrative procedure) by the ministry of higher education Brunei.
